Six months ago we were in a faraway place called Guangzhou, China.
We walked into the Civil Affairs Office and saw a beautiful little child
who was all alone in the world.
She had no possessions and no one to love her.
She sat on a little stool, just a little baby all by herself, but she
was so brave.
She saw us as soon as we walked in, and her gaze never left ours.
All of my worries (What were we thinking? Are we too old to parent
again? Will this child love us? Will we love her as much as we love
Ashley?) went away immediately.
After a few minutes, we were allowed to meet her and hold her. She
clung to us and never cried.
Six months later, she remains fearless.
She is trusting, loving, caring, strong, decisive, silly, and has a
giggle that will melt your heart.
Harper Grace, you bring so much joy to our lives!
You are such a precious gift.
You brighten our world with your laughs and smiles.
We love it when you slow dance with us to princess songs, when
you pause while playing to give us hugs and
kisses, and when you smile as you are sleeping.
You help us remember all the blessings we have.
We are so grateful to be your mommy and daddy!
