Last Day of Spring Break 2017

For our last day in Cancun, we decided to
hang out at the hotel and relax all day.
We built sandcastles
and swam at several of the pools.
Harper called this one Treasure Island.
Ashley and I lounged by the pool and enjoyed the ocean view
while Harper swam and swam and swam.
At Harper's request, we ordered lunch by the pool again.
Later, she relaxed with a banana smoothie.
We went for one last swim in the ocean
and ate dinner at The Hard Rock Cafe.
Before we left Cancun Harper said, "I want go to Mexico again!"

Cancun Day 3

This morning Harper locked Ashley and I out on the patio.
I'm pretty sure she thought she was punishing us,
but the view was beautiful and a certain little chatterbox
was on the other side of the door.
Eventually, she let us back inside and we decided
to go to the Interactive Aquarium.
It was a small aquarium, but Harper liked
touching the starfish.
She was not interested in touching the stingrays.
We saw a dolphin show
then shopped around at La Isla Mall.
We grabbed a quick lunch at Johnny Rocket's
then headed back to the hotel to relax.
We played at the playground
and of course saved some time for the beach!
We found excellent food for dinner at a place called Mextreme.
The waiters sing and dance and
carry the drinks out stacked on top of their heads.
Harper was so excited to have her lemonade in a big glass!
We were dining on the front patio and witnessed a car accident.
It didn't look like the injuries were serious,
but there was an ambulance, a lot of police, and quite a traffic jam.

Tuesday in Cancun

For our first full day in Cancun,
we decided to relax at the beach and pool all day.
Harper found a pool that was perfect for her.
It was only 1.5 feet deep.
Right next to this pool is a little playground.
We had a great view at lunch and Harper found macaroni and cheese!
(It was so bright outside that I didn't notice Harper's eyes were closed.)
After lunch, we headed back out onto the beach.
Both girls loved playing in the sand.
(OK--one of them more than the other!)
At dinner, we found a fun place called Carlos & Charlie's.
Harper said, "I want to go to Mexico again!"

Spring Break 2017

We are spending Spring Break at the Fiesta Grand Americana
Coral Beach in Cancun this year!
We have an ocean front suite with an amazing view.
It was lunchtime when we got to the resort,
so we headed to the beach and ordered food.
Harper was very excited to find a corn dog on the menu!
The pizza was good too.
We played in the ocean
and in the sand
and tried out one of the pools.
It was a great first day of vacation!

Still Celebrating the Year of the Rooster

Harper and I attended the Families Blessed
Lunar New Year celebration last night.
We had more great Chinese food and enjoyed
dancers and Chinese music.
Harper made a rooster puppet
and played Chinese games.
She looked so pretty in her Chinese silks.
We were having so much fun that I
forgot to get a full length picture!

Chinese New Year 2017

We had a fun weekend celebrating the Chinese New Year!
Saturday night, we went to a Chinese buffet.
Harper ate more than Ashley and I did!
She opened a traditional red envelope
and was so excited to find money.
In this picture, Harper is saying "Thank you!"
On Sunday, we celebrated at the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum.
First, we ate lunch at the Rozelle Court restaurant.
There was so much to see and do!
There were dance performances and acrobats
and Chinese music
and crafts!
Harper wanted to check out the regular exhibits too.
We had a wonderful time celebrating the Year of the Rooster!

Harper's 6th Birthday!

Yesterday Harper turned 6 years old!
Her party was at Fuzion Gymnastics this year.
There was lots of jumping
and giggling.
There was fun with friends
and family.
There were cupcakes
and wishes!
What a great day!
