Sedgwick County Zoo

Today Harper convinced me to go to the

 Sedgwick County Zoo (in a rainstorm).

  I’m so glad she did, because it was a beautiful zoo!

It often felt like we were in a forest rather than a zoo.

The animals were close and easy to see.

Harper liked playing with the gorillas

and with the Chinese crocodile.  He followed her as we walked away, so we went back and he followed her that way too.  No matter which way we went, he followed.  He was definitely interacting with us.  

I’ve never seen such a friendly crocodile!

We liked the brown Bear

and the spotted stingrays

and the okapi

the meerkats

and the stork.

The huge elephant habitat was closed for maintenance,

but we still got to see some elephants

and a rhinoceros.

In the Australia exhibit, the wallabys

hopped around freely with us.

We even fit in time to check out the playground.

We had a great time at the zoo!

Wichita Day 2

Today we went to Tanganyika Wildlife Park.

We got to feed lemurs

and giraffes!

We fed bunnies

and tortoises

and fish, ducks, goats and alpacas!

We even fed a Pygmy hippo!

We hung out with kangaroos

and later in the day got brave enough to pet them!

There were so many animals to see!

There was a huge playground

and a super fun splash pad!

Harper had a great time cooling off.

Our favorite part of the day was 

swimming with the penguins!

We had a great time at Tanganyika Wildlife Park!

We ate at Old Mill Tasty Shop

and checked out the old fashioned soda fountain.

The food was tasty and so was the banana split!

And of course we spent time in the hotel pool!

Wichita Road Trip

Today we road tripped to Wichita.

First, we went to Exploration Place.

We learned about germs

and teeth!

We built our own propeller

and a chair too!

We flew airplanes

and studied fossils.

Harper loved scanning the fossils to identify

 what was inside.

She studied magnets

and friction

and which chemicals cause the different colors of fireworks.

There was a huge castle

where we learned about medieval punishment

(she wasn’t a fan)

and catapults (she loved this part!)

There were so many things to see and do!

After we checked in to our hotel, we decided to

go to Sedgwick County Park.

Harper loved the slides

and the swings.

There were lots of musical instruments

and a maze!

It was hot, so we relaxed in the shade

then cooled off with ice cream from Braum’s.

Our favorite part of the day was having dinner

with Bill and Lora Lowe!  

Our Wichita road trip is off to a great start!
